Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"It is a very nice place. The food is amazing. The space is quite small. We were group of about 9 and we shared 2 platters. It was amazing. I do think they need a bigger space so that more people can fit and it does not feel as narrow."
"The real deal! Very special experience to eat here. We had a meat platter which was excellent!"
"Something different and a place worth visiting when in Cape Town. We loved the interior, the food was really good, especially the vegetable platters and the chicken stew. A very friendly staff explained in detail what to order from the menu as it was our first time visiting. Wine choices are small but big enough to find decent local wines, and not overpriced. The place is vibrant and busy but has a good atmosphere and is definitely worth visiting. It was a lovely evening with family and great experience. Well done ladies from Madame Taitou, Long Street."
"The establishment is very beautiful, colorful, and cozy. Inside, your eyes are dazzled by the interesting design attributes. As for the food, it's more of an acquired taste. Of course, you need to understand that you're in an Ethiopian restaurant, and that's the main thing. Is the food delicious? Yes. Is the service fast? Yes. Will I come back here just for the food? No. I just marked that I was simply here and got acquainted with Ethiopian cuisine."
"The interior is eye-catching, certainly distinct from other establishments. The food is an acquired taste, but overall I liked everything. The service is good. I think some people might like the cuisine."
"Come here every year! The food is meant to be shared and is always absolutely delicious! I love coming here in a group, we always have the best time. Their staff are always so accommodating and polite and I always recommend them as one of my top wholesome restaurants in Cape Town."
"I came here twice during my trip to Cape Town! The food was great, and loved the decor too - so unique and warm. The doro wat was my highlight"
"When you walk in, you are met with mesmerising décor and a really welcoming atmosphere. I've had Ethiopian food before, but it my parents' first time and they really enjoyed the experience. As per tradition, eating with hands is preferred, so it was a good experience for them to be guided through it, from requesting that the table go to the sink to wash their hands, and then experiencing the dishes at the tips of their fingers! We had the lamb alicha wot, lamb tibs, and the veggie sampler (atlkit, gomen, kik alicha wot, misir key wot, and shiro wot), all served on a large sharing platter layered with injera. All really delicious dishes, and it's inspired my parents to consider some Ethiopian restaurants back home in London!"
